Question 3:
I do think that the work shown on my digital portfolio is an accurate show of growth in my art skills. Going back to some of my earliest posts, even in art 1 they were pretty bad. I think i've grown a lot in my art skill. I have learned to use patience more often when working with art. I have also learned to be less stressed about the result of my art and learned that it will turn out the way it's supposed to. I learned to put more care into the pieces I make, and to be happy about the things I make. I learned how to use new things to make art, like clay and pen. I think my portfolio shows who I am as an artist, where I started and where I finished.
Question 2:
The two pieces I picked to show my growth as an artist are my first piece and my latest piece. My first piece was a collage of an island in hawaii. Because it was my first piece, and my first time doing a collage I ran into some issues. I had trouble finding colors similar enough to each other to make it blend realistically. So my overall collage does not exactly look like the picture it's based off of. I still had a lot of fun doing it and I still think it turned out ok. My latest piece is a painting of a sunset down a road in the style of Edward Hopper. For our final piece in art we were painting a landscape in a famous artist's style. My artist was Edward Hopper who I noticed had a more depressing style. So I used a lot of dark colors, blues, purples, reds, and oranges. I think that my latest piece, (the painting) is much better. I felt a lot more confident in my painting than I did the collage.
Question 6:
My favorite medium to work with was definitely pen. Pen was fun for me because I could be very accurate with what I was drawing on the paper. I loved all the different styles of using pen as well, like stippling. Using a pen to draw my art feels so nice in my hand. Being able to get that close to the paper with my hand helps me make things more accurate to how they look in my head. In one of my pieces I was making trees and I used stippling to make the leaves, it was the most accurate looking tree I personally have ever drawn. I loved everything about using pen, there's so many different styles of pen to use and they are all fun to learn. Making different textures was my favorite part of pen.

For a while I was trying to figure out what my specific style of art could be and where my perspective was coming from. For me I like to express emotion through some of my art. I think emotion is something hard to speak about, and putting it through art can be an outlet for me at times. Being successful in my art to me means that I am happy with what I made. And that's where the emotion comes back into play, I think if I feel happy about what I've made that is success in art to me. The most rewarding part of art to me is making it, being apart of the piece and putting all the parts together that make it what you want it to be. I tend to rely on my thoughts a lot when it comes to making my art, my art is all from my mind. Through the art experience I have learned not to rush your pieces and to take time on them.
