pop art clay
For my clay pop art I chose to make a Burger. The overall design and structure of the burger itself is pretty accurate to a real burger. The most difficult part of this project was making the shape of each part of the burger, making sure everything looks nice and accurate. I used the roller a lot while I was making this, I was constantly flattening my clay and reconstructing it to make new pieces. I also used the sharper clay tools to cut up certain pieces to give it texture. I think my colors are pretty accurate to a real burger, with the only exception being the actual patty itself, to me I see a little tint of green but I still think it looks good. At all views my piece can be seen as a delicious burger. Making something like this compared to something 2D was actually very fun, I enjoyed working with my hands. The biggest difference between this project and something in 2D is the fact that I can make more errors with clay and still be successful. To make the texture on certain parts of the burger I used a needle like tool to scrape up parts of the burger to give it more texture. I think my piece looks like a burger, but it doesn't look edible that is for sure. You can still tell that it is clay. By researching other pop artists it helped me get a sense of what I should be doing, I have never done pop art before. Something I would do differently next time would be to add more ingredients to the burger, and touch up on some of the color.
